Good dosa, down to earth restaurant with fast seevice. The spinach and potato dosa came with 3 sauce, served cold and a small soup. The dosa was still crispy. Given that there are not so many dosa restaurants in the city, this place definitely hits the spot.

Fucking love Udupi Palace. I lived in the bay for years, both SF and East Bay, and I'm just in town briefly. Just ordered Udupi on a nostalgic whim and am glad I did. Fried Idly, papadams, and the house curry special dosa. All delicious. Oh, and the shredded carrot dessert. Fire. All vegetarian too! Fucking love Udupi Palace. All the stars.

My friend was craving dosas, and I was also craving dosas because I keep seeing videos of Kamala Harris making dosas in my TikTok feed. It's a kamalanomenon. Got a paper dosa and a uthappam. We hung around for a long time, slowly chipping away at the breads and chutneys and musing about the future, aging, and the kamalanomenon. Had leftovers. Those portions are huge!

Udupi Palace is a great vegetarian South Indian restaurant near downtown San Francisco if you're looking for an authentic thaali. The service is great, the restaurant is clean, the food is flavorful. There's street parking nearby and they accept Apple Pay. There's limited seating indoors so I'd recommend only going with a small group or ordering takeout. The food tastes really great and they were willing to make accommodations if asked. I ordered a cheese dosa (not on the menu) and my parents ordered the thaali with an extra side of rice. The portion size of the dosa and thaali was good for the price. The veg curries in the thaali were also authentic and seasoned well. I'd definitely go back to eat these dishes again!

Vegetarian only, gluten free friendly look no further for Udupi Palace. All of their dosas are GF which is great for those who have that wheat intolerance like a friend that came along. Their expansive menu of options can be a bit overwhelming at first but when you realize it's variations of a category, that helps. We really enjoyed the Thali which is a tray full of small bow soups, dips, curries, and even dessert. We also got the vegetarian biryani and the spiced potato and spinach dosa. For three people, we were stuffed and had leftovers. The service is right in the middle where they are here to take your order efficiently, give you space to enjoy, and will get you out of there as soon as you are ready.

Came here for lunch and ordered my usual Special Rava Masala Dosa with potatoes and onions. My husband ordered the 2 foot long dosa with spring veggies. The waiter took our order and I felt that he probably misunderstood saying there are 2 dosas in his order, thinking we were going to share it. My order arrived but it was accompanied with an idli (white spongy cake) and wada (fried donut like appetizer). Surprised because I did not order these 2 items and thought maybe it was for my husband. He said no, his order was coming. After 5 minutes, he got up to check on his order. As I expected, the waiter misunderstood and only took my order instead. They made his order quickly and it finally came with 2 dosas. His dosa was supposed to be like 2 feet long but they cut it in half to fit the plate. I should've taken a pic of his order but he hates that. It was way too much for him, we had to pack the leftovers to go. I also discovered that you can order an extra crispy plain dosa with the potatoes and onions on the side as we heard it from the next table's order. I'll do that next time. It was still a nice lunch to enjoy today.

Very simple and casual spot, serving you some classic south indian dishes. So much options to choose from! We got the udupi combo (comes with dosa, uthappam, idly, medhu vada) and thali. Everything tasted amazing, and we were all so full from this meal. The price point for everything is in the affordable range, and it's definitely worth the money for what you get.

I always get so anxious whenever I go to an Indian restaurant because I don't know the names of many dishes. Luckily the staff at Udupi was a great help. We came in on a Tuesday at 5pm and was seated right away. They have 3 different types of dosas. We ordered the Thali and the Special Rava Masala Dosa. Both dishes came out in 10 minutes. So quick. I was shocked at the portions. It was huge and very filling. The Rava Masala Dosa had a ton of spiced potatoes. I do wish they offer other fillings though. The 3 different sauces were all great. I'm very indecisive so I love that I could dip it in all 3 of them and I love the crispiness of the dosa. The vegetable soup was also very tasty. The Thali had an assortment of mini vegetarian dishes containing potatoes, chickpeas, rice, beets and beanThe puffed bread I thought was a bit too thin and a bit oily. However it also came with a more crispier cracker type thing which held up better.

So delicious! I tried the Dosa and Thali and both were yum. The spice levels were fire lol. We came at 9pm and staff were so kind to accommodate us since it was their closing time. Vibe is casual/cafe.
